Nov. 1. Foggy up to 11:00 A.M. Anchored an hour or so. Then crept slowly ahead. Fog again settled down. Turned back on our course, heaving the lead. Anchored again, fearing grounding on the Rio Grande de Sul bar. 11:30 A.M. again groping our way to the entrance of the lagoon to reach the town of Rio Grande.
