smaller. Must be well fed. October 25. We arrived at the village or town of Rio Negro about 6:30 this A.M. Twelve hours sail up the river of same name. Fine stream; picturesque brushy banks. Ar. trees common, on low flooded ground as well as on hills. Magnificent views of Ar. crowned hills and slopes from high streets. Have been trying to sketch some of them. Here we take train for Currityba at 1:20 P.M. Expect to arrive about eight o’clock.
