Napa Val [valley] beautiful fertile famed for noble lobata oaks, fine farms vineyards & residences picturesque hills & mtns [boundary] shaggy with shrubs & trees, mostly oaks & 2nd growth Douglas spruce with few redwoods in shady ravines near Calistoga. Noticed conifers redwood, doug sp [douglas spruce], pinus attenuata, sabiniana, pinus ponderosasa, & sugar pine on mtns [mountains] toward Geysers beyond Knights Val. Tumion ab [abundant], oaks, Californica, lobata, chrysolepis, agrifolia, Douglasii, dumosa. Maple ab [abundant], Alder, willow, overgrown with wild Vitis, & Clematis, Umbellularia, several sps [species] of Ceanothus (tree form), Garrya.
