Left home July, 30 10 p.m. for Adamana No. of baggage check, 22467 Santa Fe Route. Duplicate Few goldenrods in Flr. Yuccas in full bloom June 1st 1905 after good rainy season Fine tall thistle with small red flrs now in bloom the topmost flrs gone to seed white like flrs in dist. In Tehachapi Pass July 31st Broad flat [1/2] fertile val on top of the pass. a few fields of wheat & barley. The Mohave [Mojave] desert has [ ] large part of area the Yucca [arborescent] as chief feature. Aug. 1st Arrive Admana [Adamana] at 10:55 am long vals last [one] v broad [bounded ] by mtns with finely drawn [taluses] Delightful to see pines once more tho small about Williams & Flagstaff a little snowy on S.F. mtns magnif clds [magnificent clouds] last sunset [much] sheet & zigzag lightning Aug. 2 Went to Pet [Petrified] Forest with party. Fine day magnif clds [magnificent clouds] nearly all day. Saw green lizard with black ring around neck saw Coyote & Jack & cotton tail rabbits. The latter only near the brushy river bank. [Sketch of an eagle nest] Nest of Golden Eagle on inaccessible [residual] [capped] pinnacle in the park. This bird a good judge of nest sites. – [distributed] [sketch of O, circle inside of a circle] Rook wren? & thrush of sage brush often seen. A considerable number of juniper trees near Nat [natural] [bridge] few poplars. [Sketch] Sep 24th looking W. 4pm Rock bed of white [ ] [with] [ ] shadows infinite richness of up-growing domelets [rising] above each other showing great depth bounded by smooth structure[ ] black storm cld [cloud] all around. Heavy rain last eve & this morn.
