Hazel [ ] rosy colored [ ] on sunny side like [apple] horizontal lvs [leaves] catching light 2 dogwood nuttell & pubesans rubras Nulkanus. 3 ribes 2 ceanothus [rhamnus] rose willow [Chamaebatia] especially around mound of seq [sequoia] base now in [front] Ang 10.99 viola lohata strawberry [Hosack] 2 sp or 3 Lupin blue [ ], pyrola, mimulus yellow & red. Clover, trientalis blue curls. Meadow & rim of trees all around best of conifers of sierra in one view. best preserved portion of sierra forest 40 yrs in possession of Mr. [Sperry]. Fall of light flecks & lrg [large] patches & filtery thro lvs [leaves] ah-ing without leaf stirring. Libo best [recovers] from sheep biting. Many killed no seedling escapes, some 30 yrs old Recovered & shot up good head from bitten tufted portion 10.20 more [or] [less] yrs old to height of 8 or 10 feet [Sketch]
