Leave Victora about 10am. Arrived at Port Townsend about 1pm. At 2 start for Tacoma, arrive about 7. Arrived at Seattle about 8.30, where nearly all our passengers left the ship. The Kips left here. Had an invitation to visit them, when I came to New York, also many of the passengers thanked me for talks on the trip and invited me to their homes, tc. Found Mr. Shuster at Seattle, but as Sergeant was in the Olympic Mountains and he had left no plan of his future movements and as I am too late for the Mazama excursion through Crater Lake, which I could visit any time, I decided to accept Capt. Carrolls invitation to go direct to San Francisco with him, after coaling at Nanaimo, and thus get my collection of plants home without trouble and join Sergeant later when he came to California. Aug 16th Left Seattle for Nanaimo at 9am. Arrived at 8.30pm. Aug 17th see ahead
