The sun shone a while this morning cloudy nearly all day & a slight rain at noon
The wind has changed & the storm which has lasted so long seems over
X Wrote to Magee declining to lecture
Sent 2[n]d receipt to Ed Casey, Madera, Madera Co [County] for $220. paid Jan [January] 3, 1896.
Wednesday 29
Bright all day, not a cloud in the sky. The world is bright & open once more. Nearly 10 inches of rain has fallen in nearly one continuous storm.
Saw small hawk on vane of windmill when it was moving, flying from vane to vane as if on treadmill.

Fine bright day. Slight frost in the morning

Also to Thos [Thomas] Magee & Sons, enclosing order on [payout] Upham & Co [Company]. 109 75/100 - taxes etc. [etcetera.]
