Fine day. Mostly sunny. Fog leaving in the morning. Rain so far just enough for plowing. Vine pruning about 2/3 done. Walked to Maggies and Mays with Helen who is a fine walker.
Larks in large flocks on the meadow. A few cow buntings. [Zonobricken] common [& lively] in the hedges. Wrote to Mr. McKelvey enclosed photo and to Robert L Morris McConnelsville Ohio. Mr. Mathewson.
Thursday 2
Very foggy this morning. Everything dripping like a rain. Clear p.m. Wrote to R N. & O Co as to descriptive writing. Wen[t] to Martinez. Talk of starting a ferry to Benicia. Worked on speech on forests for publication.
Friday 3
Fine brisk weather, keen frosts.
Mr E Casey paid $220 on Valona lot. $80 was paid at time of purchase $50 is still owed due on it.
Hard at work on writing out Sierra Club address.
