June Friday 28 Went to the city with Prof. Bradley. Dined at the University Club with Mr. Armes, Mr. McCallister & Mr. Neighbors of San Jose. Spoke of Sierra Club affairs chiefly. Saw but few at the club that I knew. At Mr. Kuth’s Studio saw & shook hands with Susan B. Anthony, Mrs A.A.Sargent, & Miss Shaw. Met Mr. Olney on the train on the way home. Lovely evening Venus just touched the disc of the moon for about an hour before setting thus making a most beautiful & striking picture. [sketch: quarter moon with shadow]
Saturday 29 Still deliciously cool. Reading Thomas [Week] a rare book.
Sunday 30 Walked to Swetts to see little Ruth Parkhurst a sweet & very beautiful motherless bairn [child]. Felt a little hot walking in the dust.
July Monday 1 Delightful weather. Slightly cloudy. Apricots ripening fast.
Tuesday 2 Delightful day. Shipped about 40 crts [crates] Apricots.
