bridge above the waters. About 9:30 we noticed a rare effect just beneath the sun – a faint, black, indefinite bar, cloudlike. Extended along the horizon, and immediately beyond this dark bar, there was a strip of bright, keenly defined colors like a showy spectrum, containing nearly all the colors of the rainbow.
