No tinkling whistling trilling rill this night. Ever & anon I hear
a boulder falling Have had a glorious day & very instructive but am excessively weary & to bed I go. Found skull of goat on the gl [glacier] 2 ms [miles] from shore July 18 8th day. Feel tired this morning. Mean to rest mostly today. 8 P.M. After breakfast felt I must be up & doing. Climbed to summit of Gray Mtn [mountain] could have climbed 5000 ft. Do not feel
