30 to a piece of paper in a shallow tin can & put on a few shavings then held my cup over the tiny blaze with one hand & fed the fire by adding slivers & shavings with the other Then pulling my bread sack within reach made a good warm hearty breakfast cooked & eaten in bed [while reposing in my luxurious couch.] After surveying the wilderness of hummocky & crevassed ice
concluded to try to drag my little sled a mile or [so] 2 farther Then finding encouragement persisted & persevered getting it across innumerable crevasses & streams & great sharp edged angular [ribbed] hummocks & at length reached the western shore this evening between 5 & 6 oclock in the evening extremely tired [fatigued] & glad. [This I consider a great achievement]
