Nevada is ridged with mtns like in farmer’s field with furrows Valleys & mtn ranges alternating in pretty regular succession & trending N & S even when [in] looking N or S other ranges seem to [block] the view as if they run at right angles to the main ranges. These are found to simply [incline] towards one another to inclose [enclose] the Vals in gradual converging curves like the bows of a boat. These mtns are bare treeless yet flowery in springtime & often in their silence set [in] loud [rush] & roar with short lived torrents called cloud bursts. Their smooth flowing lines are exquisitely beautiful when perceived against the oppressive sense of desolation so apt to [overbear] the vision of one [accustomed] to [the] [lands]
