the range begins to be complicated as to axis on head of Walker & Stanis Sweetwater R [Range/Ridge] first great spurs. Seem to have been flat-topped in pre gl [preglacial] times gls Granite Val head op [opposite] [Hope] vall [valley] decomposed granite absorbs snow comes out as springs large stream flowing [past] it. Carson Canon a gl [glacier] eroded gorge with Yosemite scenery. Some polished rocks near head near the middle on N side.
