& lilies in every one of them The [ ] [heat] on rock & high there was not much shade only dwarf cedars but [from] [wind] [came] [breathing] & filtering through the sunshine from [the] [cool] levels of the lake. Most of the way was open but here and there in color spots fallen bushes clustered & interlaced. No [cataract] flung its [spray] over the bushes the [ ] snow crept down out of sight in the [powers] [ as soon as free, unlike the Sierra streams on the granite gorges & caverns only sunshine & the wind no foam on the lowest of the rock Huge arches overhung the ledges [ ] [ ] of the foot lilies leaning in the shade. Then [glorious] home On my way down followed the curvings of the dell [then] [ ] [on] [ ] X The lake beneath shown resplendent like a sea of crystals a [] of lilies [beneath] a [lily sky] orange & purple & [brown] [thorn] every color that ever painted in the [] of shell or petals of lilies
