[sketch ] 24 [Trus] here Flex attain an alt of 12000 ft (nearly) here on warm slopes Pell [Breuerii] 1200 “ densa “ Mt [Mountain] beautifully starred with dwarf Phlox flrs [flowers] ¼ in dia [diameter] 18 or 20 flrs [flowers] touching each other very fine Mtneer [mountaineer], [chart] spongy [Mein] of lvs [leaves] & roots. Larger prickly species also here with it. Butterfly flew 8 or 10 times around the summit of the Mtn on vigorous wing as if rejoicing in strength. When lighted on the warm granite 1000 ft ab [above] the gl [glacier], opened and shut wings as if in low flr [flower] garden . Wall flower ab[above] here Saw woodchuck on rocks 1000 ft ab [above] meadows
