[1881]My dear little HelenPapa is glad he has your picture with him for he can look at it when he is far away & cannot see you & feels lonesome without you & Wanda & mamma_I am living in a house made out of cloth & the wind shakes the walls & makes them flap like a tablecloth when you are shaking off the crumbsThere is a big mountain near the house & some fo the snow that is lying on it looks like animals. One of the patches of snow looks like an elephant 200 feet long. I will try to draw it for you. This is the old white fellow [sketch of elephant in rectangle] & here is a reindeer [sketch of reindeer in rectangle] Papa will soon be back to you my dear Helen I will not tell you to be good for Papa knows you will be good01284
