[2]busy – painting and getting his house made larger – it seems a strange thing that he should live in Hamilton while we are living in Portage – Mary has not got home yet as she is engaged in painting and expects to be a good part of the vacation Anna is still teaching but often pays us a visit – After Joanna came home from Racine – her health and eyes seemed to improve slowly but gradually – but we have had some very hot weather, and she dont feel very well – and her eyes are nearly as bad as they were at first – this is a great trial to her [underlined: poor girl] [3] Sarah and her little Gracie has been in Portage for a week paying us all a visit – her family are all well. Margt. and her family are all well and so is David and his family About a month ago John sent home his Photograph to me and I have got it framed and hung up – John don’t like city life he says it don’t agree with him at all, he has had a slight fever but has recovered, two weeks ago he wrote that he had not yet decided where he would spend the summer Joanna sends you much love and hopes you will not work too hard during
