Martinez, January 11, 1895My dear Sellers,Welcome to the brightest of the bright lands of sunshine, deepest snows, and--deepest--muds. Oh dear I'm sorry, but you know "This is exceptions" Earth & sky one poultice, all the land gone hereabouts to agricultural gravy, boundless endless & sublime, rivaling the best bogs on the continent. bridges like tourists on their banks wandering about on the highways, seeking rest-dry Chicago boulevards.Your experience on the mountains I admire that was clean & kindly,Well anyhow I'm delighted you are here & if the railroad bridges stand I'll be down to see you tomorrow. I hope you are well All's well here.Ever Cordially Your friend John Muir
