Mound Hill January 15th 1871Dear Uncle John As mother is writing I thought I would put in a few lines with her. I thank you very much for that little flower I think a great deal of it because it came so far. Did you have nice time on Christmas? I am sure I did. I got four presents in my stock- ing viz., an apron from mother, a lead pencil and penholder from Aunt Reid and a card from Aunt Maggie Foster. At was snowing so hard on Christmas that we could not go to meeting The next day we went to Grandpa Muir's and we had a nice time. Grandpa gave me a nice lit- tle book called Anzonetta R. Peters and Aunt Annie gave me a picture. - School was just half out yesterday I am getting along nicely this winter Aunt Joanna makes us write597
