The Manzanitas are in bloom [of?] purple bells I will enclose a few [flrs?] Maxwells address is University Club Edinburgh. Mt Hoffman is according to Whitney 10.872 ft above level of sea. Reilly will soon be here & I will attend to your pictures. I remember Cremer very well & am sorry that I did not see more of him. Please give him my regards when you next meet him. I should like to see those gray & reverend institutions of England, perhaps I may. I am building a cabin for my indepen- self in a clump of carnus bushes by the river bend but will be at "Blacks" this summer. I have left Lord Hutchings. I would like your comp in my walks, hitherto I have been alone. I hope to see your Lyndall this year Who is one of the very greatest of Englishmen, So is Huxley.
