[Letterhead on paper:] Pen Sentinel Hotel, A. C. BLACK, Proprietor. Yo Semite Valley, April 25th, 1872Dear Cross, Your of March reached me this morning. I am heartily glad to hear from you. I wish you were here tonight. The snow is very deep on the mtns & a few warm days & nights have fed many a lungful stream wh are now gathered into the grand har- mony of the falls of Yosemite the great. They are rapidly increasing in power. I was up in the moonshine last Sunday to see the lunar bows. They are indescribably grand. Last December we had a fre[illegible] & all the old falls glowed & sang together with more than a hundred newborn ones children of the storm forming a congregation of blooming vocal waters excelling all water harmonies & fall & cascade jubilees in the world. I wrote an account of this winter flood wh was published in the April No of the Overland monthly. I wish I could procure you a copy but I suppose you may find it in London Also I have written a half dozen letters
