Martinez, Jan. 3, 1914Dear Emily With all my heart I wish you a happy New YearI'm so glad to find again after losing all trace of you for years. When I returned from South America & Africa I told Mr Vroman to send my last book to you as soon as he could discover your address.I hope you have been well & have enjoyed your visit east among your many cousins. I suppose Mrs Knox was with you. How vividly Emily your letter brings back dear auld lang syne and how fondly we cling to old friends as the flying years sweep over us.You may be sure I'll visit you next time I'm in Pasadena Remember me to Mrs KnoxEver your friendJohn Muir
