[1]Dear Friends, I arrived safely in N.Y last week on a Dutch steamer and awful three weeks trip from S[illegible] Came on special trains for Americans, was ordered out of Paris Sept 6- expected [Germans?] next day - bo[illegible] fell within two blocks of me as I watched the Zeppelin was taken across channel on warship Te[illegible] - stayed five days in London then crossed that awful channel again to Rotterdam & we were stopped by cr[illegible]ers all the way over - Mother & [Donald?] met me - He coming from01695
