Martinez, Nov. 4, 1913Dear Mr Calkins:I had hoped to see you in your Orange home long ere this, but the unrighteous San Francisco schemers have drawn me & many other nature lovers into a desperate fight for the integrity of our National Parks This fight has prevented me from doing any work on my books for the last 4 monthsI should have been delighted with a visit from you when you passed our house Tell Mr Gates I often think of him & will surely pay him a visit next time I'm in Pasadena after the Hetch Hetchy war is over. With kindest regards to Mrs. CalkinsI am ever faithfully yoursJohn Muir09215
