[6]is quite overcome at having 4 sons altho' she looks very young & fresh herself still - Mary's boy & girl are thriving also so six grand children are enlarging our family circle perceptibly - I saw our good friends the Osborns just before I left home - They had planned a mid summer trip abroad but fortunately a book the Professor was writing kept him at home. Have you seen [Dr Merriam?]? He must be at his summer home in the Ke[illegible]woods & I hope has completed his [bear?] book - I fear your Alaska book is a [illegible]table "ball & chain" about you keeping you at your desk too exactingly - Do remember there is always a warm welcome for you here & we will take good care of you & send you home refreshed
