[letterhead]BELMONT, CALIFORNIAMy address for a week will be Tahoe Pines Lake TahoeDear Prof. Bade,I have just written to Mr Wm. E. Colby, Sect. of The Sierra Club, telling him of a conversation I had with Mrs Rieber while looking at her portraits of professors Palmer, Royce & James. She said that she thought John Muir's portrait should be painted and placed where it would, in a measure, be accessible to the public, and that she would like to do the painting. It seems to me that the Sierra Club would be exactly the body to take the matter up. I heartily agree with Mrs. Rieber I shall be glad if you think it worth while to talk it over with Mr. Colby and other members of the Club.Very sincerelyW. T. RiedSept. 17, '1409850
