Garrisons, N. Y.July 14, 1911.Dear Mr. Putnam:Many thanks for your kind farewell note of July 2. I congratulate you on your visit to Mt. Rainier, one of my favorite mountains. I had hoped to get a day's quiet visit with you at your home long 'ere this but I have been driven unmercifully in correcting the proof of one book and writing the last quarter of another one.I recall your Manhattan dinner with the greatest pleasure. It forms one of the finest experiences of the many that I have enjoyed since leaving California.I expect to leave New York for the Amazon on the 15th of August. Sincere thanks for your good wishes.May your journey to icey Rainier bring you a glorious share of mountain health and mountain wealth.Faithfully yours,John Muir.05077
