[This letter was copied, and original returned to Mr. C. W. Carruth, 1537 Webster St. Oakland. Cal., November 23, 1922.] The original envelope was addressed as 520 15th St., Oakland.Martinez, May 10, 1912.Dear Mr. Carruth:In trying to clear my desk of a great talus of letters nearly a year high, I came to-day upon yours dated March 23, 1911, enclosing cards for Ina Coolbrith's book shower. Am sorry I missed the reception since fate has kept us apart for many a year. As to books, I can easily send the ones she wants, perhaps "My First Summer" and "Yosemite" just out. Another will probably be published this summer or fall--a first volume] of autobiography called "My Boyhood and Youth".I've just returned from a long trip through South America and Africa. Let me hear how you are all getting on.Ever yours faithfully,JOHN MUIR.05196
