I hope that sometime next spring I shall have the pleasure of sending you a firstvolume of my autobiography entitled My boyhood and youth", whichwill recall, my dear cousin, the time when you used to torment mewith kisses on the stone stairs when I was going up to grandfathersto learn my lessons.Enclosed you will find $100. With one-half of it, buysomething to add to your comfort, the other half to be distributedamong the poor.Ever your affectionate cousin,John Muir053041
