[3]but one cannot but admire his unselfish devotion to the Progressive cause he has espoused, and his moral courage as exemplified during his recent assault. He seemed to forget self in the face of threatened death.I spent the night with our dear friends Ellie and Mrs. Hooker and they gave me the lovely photos you left for me. Thank you so much. You are far too generous. I enjoy especially the ones of you alone. It seems much too foolish for me to be tucked in, in the company of "a celebrity"! I shall never have the face to show them to anyone but Donald who greatly likes the one taken together on the hillside.I am glad to be at home and take up my duties as a citizen, a school trustee and any other trifling duties which seem to be within my compass. Best of all it seems nice to be home to our friends and Donald and I are waiting to welcome you the very first chance we get for a visit. I found your inpromptu card written in September when I was revelling[4]in cathedrals of Redwoods.I hope the meeting in the Yosemite was thoroughly satisfactory.
