Los Angeles. Cal., July 30, 1910.325 West Adams Street.Darling Helen:-Glad to hear you are getting strong again and that you have come through the hot spell with growing strength. I was especially pleased with your account of your excursion to a mine on a hill a mile high where you gained five pounds in five days. You should go up five days of each week for a year and if you gain at the same rate you will finally become plump. The papers are all full of sad stories of destructive heat in the great cities, and it is pleasant to think that even in the hottest and windiest desert where there is sufficient elbow room one may get through even the hottest spells with no great suffering.I am sending you with this check for $125.00, hoping that it will prove sufficient for all your needs until the next time.Your devoted father,[ILLEGIBLE]
