Martinez Sep. 28, 1909—Dear Mrs Hooker & Dr. MarianThe rain last Saturday washed our little valley's face, & today it is smiling & sweet. The barometer is rising, & should the smiling continue & next Sunday be sunny I'll look for you at the Ferry, Oct 3d at 9.45.I have to start for Yosemite Oct. 6th to be gone four or five days therefore if next Sunday is missed, the next one available will be away off down somewhere about the middle of the month So come if you can & make joyful your friendJohn Muir
