Martinez, California, April 4, 1909.Darling Helen:All goes well up here. The neighbors as far as I have heard are well. Mrs. Swett better than she has been for years Tom told me last evening that he was going to bring Wanda home next Tuesday. Everybody inquires kindly for you. Everything, it seems, that happens to you makes you more famous, but my, what a price. Be monstrous careful hereafter never to add to your fame in any such wicked way as taking desert poison. The country is looking fine. Old Fong has been away most of the time of my absence but he is here now and I will set him to work again. The garden is looking fine.Don't think of leaving your present quarters until I return - probably in four or five days or a week.Ever your devoted father.[illegible]Miss Helen Muir,Los Angeles, California.
