Martinez, May 12, 1909.Dear Mr Calkins,After being five weeks in Hospital at Los Angeles with typhoid fever Helen is gain at her desert home Daggett happy & hopeful & about as well as ever.I had a good time showing John Burroughs the Petrified forest, Grand Canon, & Yosemite He is now in Honolulu for a short stay. Of course only bewildering impressions can be got on such hasty racing trips.Many thanks for the kind things you say about Little Stickeen & Helen - & with sincere regards to Mrs Calkins & your son I am faithfully yoursJohn Muir09209
