To Senator Knute Nelson, Feb. 8, 1909.Your consideration is asked for a national questi[illegible] cheapness not sufficient reason for [destroction?] on second greatest feature of Yosemite Park; part of my life's work endangered and loss to nation irreparable; no necessity for such a sacrifice. You have helped to create our parks you will not destroy them without proof of necessity. My health does not permit me to appear before you. Alden Sampson will represent me and [illegible] and large majority of Sierra Club;Robert Underwood Johnson also expected to appear.John Muir
