Home, Oct 20, 1909Darling Helen, I was very glad to get your letter yesterday You are in a delightful place & I would gladly join you for a week were it not for a large pile of letters & bits of business accumulated while in the m'tn's & a severe cold something like grippe caught in dusty bedrooms. I'm getting better however on my balcony.Give my kindest regards to Mr Miller for his invitation to the Taft banquet & explain that the Ballinger Hetch Hetchy trip prevented.Of course you have received my letter & check of the 18th My kindest regards to BuelEver your devoted fatherJohn Muir
