Martinez Dec 31, 1908.Dear Mr Colby:I'll help you out in the matter of Mr Bade's Washington expenses, but all our 1000 minds should show their interest in the great cause, & their public spirit. I think I wrote you that I told R U Johnson that I would pay gladly all his expenses incurred in Washington since he complained that he was unable to do as much as he might on acct of cost of travel etc.If the great corporations are with us we will win. If not we may lose this particular fight. But truth & right must prevail at last. Anyhow we must be true to ourselves & the Lord -,Ever Yours John Muir
