[ca 26 Jan 1907](Copied from fragment marked Y-3)Mr. Peter L. Trout,Hotel St. John. San Jose, Cal.M.S. and letter received. Glad to hear from you. I'll look over the M.S. In few days, and write you my opinion.Don't allow yourself to be drawn into an exciting fight concerning domestic affairs. It would result, I think, in no good but in all probability would make matters worse. You are doing just right - climbing mountains. Go to Yosemite when you can, and go on with your life epxeriences. Nothing like going up canyons and mountains for troubles of all sizes. With all best wishes, I am,Faithfully your old friend, [JOHH MUIR]03826
