Martinez, Nov. 19, 1907Dear Mr Calkins:Here are copies of H. H. pamphlet sent to each of our 1000 club members with request that they write to Sec. Garfield or the President protesting against destruction of Hetch Hetchy Valley It is difficult however to find many writers who are known & whose words carry effective weight like those of your Iowa friends. Prof. Macbride etc. I was in luck however in getting the help of John W. Noble, Sec. in Harrisons administration to speak for us, probably at your suggestion, at the meeting of the Trans Mississippi Commercial Congress at Muskogee.R. U. Johnson is working hard in New York. & Dr C. Hart Merriam a good stout influential friend of the President will help us in Washington He starts for home today after his seasons biological work in Cal. He spent last Sunday evening at our house & of course I did all possible to explain H. H.07237
