Martinez, CaliforniaDecember 5, 1907Dear Cousin Margaret:I am very glad you & Maggie are both so well this summer & hope fondly that you will get through the winter in comfort. We are all pretty well here except Helen who is slowly recovering from another attack of pneumonia. Whether she will be able to pass the rainy winter here or be compelled to go the Arizona I'll soon know. This is the 4th attack & there seems to be no end of the trouble. Margaret is better than she has been for years. Sarah too is very well & DavidMiss Hoffman is to be married in the spring to one of the professors in Stanford University.I'm sending with this $10. 5 to the poor who most need it, - the other 5 to buy any little thing that may make your New Year more comfortableRemember me with kindest regards to the Hays, Susan Gilroy, Jane Mather & other friends. Heaven bless & comfort you & your dear Maggie is the devout prayer of your affectionateCousin John Muir.03987
