[letterhead]801 [illegible] Trust B[illegible]gAug 9th 1907My dear Prof Muir:Your letter of the 8th inst. is just before me. I regret that I was not in my office when you called; &, have just gotten back from a weeks trip. There are something over a dozen reservoir sites surveyed by the U.S. Geological Survey in the Tuolumne basin. Of these Hetch Hetchy is the largest. I do not think that any serious damage can be made to the National Park by the full utilization of these reservoirs. The area of the Park is something over 1500 square miles The reservoir area is not one per cent of this none of the grand features of the region will be interfered with, even in Hetch Hetchy the great breeding spots of the musquito will be broken up.Nature has forever put a stop to utilizing Yosemite Valley by denying a good foundation. But whether in this generation or the next or a later one, the full utilization of all practicable reservoir sites will be made to supply successive generations of mothers & children with pure water &03912
