Dear Mr. Sterling: I would gladly send you the little article you want on the big trees of Australia if I had the time to prepare it. But I am completely snowed under with work already promised and which must be cleared off before any-thing new, however small, is taken on. Therefore, much as I regret to say it, my best wishes is at present all I can send you. I was glad to see by the newspapers that your California Forestry bill had passed, but was not aware that it had been seriously amended. Faithfully yours, [illegible]
