Martinez, Cal. Feb. 16/05.Dear Mr. Johnson:--The deadlock at Washington over R. R. rights of way thro the Park seems to be 1 settled.Voting on the recession bill has been postponed almost from day to day the last two or three weeks. It is now set for next Tuesday, the 21st. As far as I know the vote was delayed on account of bitter feeling and clash of influences on other bills. We are working hard and still hope to win through it all.I'll inquire about Owen's book when next I go to the City.Faithfully yours,[signed]John Muir1"seems to be" was changed from "is".
