Martinez, Cal, July 4/05. Dear Mr. Johnson:-- We were all called back from Arizona a few days ago. Mrs. Muir had a severe attack of pneumonia which complicated with other chronic troubles has brought her very low. Yesterday and today she rested well and seems hopefully better. Of course literary work is now out of sight. Yesterday when I read your letter to her she said "Give Mr. Johnson my kindest regards, and tell him that had I been able I should have written expressing my thanks for his fine kind article in the Outlook" To her thanks and good wishes I cordially add my own. The Outlook sketch is good everyway; but in what you say about Yosemite park you are unfair to yourself. This I must try to set right some time when opportunity offers in writing, as I did again and again last winter in speaking about it. Faithfully yours, [signed] John Muir
