Martinez, CaliforniaDec. 29, 1904My dear Mr Osborn:Hearty congratulations on Virginia's marriage. How quick girls grow. My own two babes are already women, and to think of the boys in Princeton or nearly out of it.I read your Century articles with great interest. You are in a grand work giving life to the beasts of the auld lang syne. You are succeeding admirably in a magnificent field.I wish you had been with me on my long trip. I'm now trying to write another little book and so must stick to my desk in grim self-denial for a long time. Nevertheless I don't dispair of seeing you all ere many years go by in your beautiful Hudson woods. I look back in the meantime to the memorable visit I enjoyed at Wing-and-Wing with pure pleasureWith best wishes for the New Year and kindest regards to Mrs Osborn I amFaithfully yoursJohn Muir03491
