[letterhead]2621 De[illegible] StSan Francisco, Nov 23/04Mr John MuirMartinez Cal.Dear Sir:I respectfully ask your assistance in our efforts to preserve the historic names of California. I enclose a copy of a letter I am sending out to various societies, colleges &c, and a draft of my proposed letter to the head of the postal department. If the subject appeals to you I would be very glad to have your help: and if, in addition to a communication to the department, you saw fit to address a letter to the president, I am sure it would be most effective.Regarding myself, my good friend, Rev. Joseph Worcester has authorized me to use his name.Very respectfully Joeth [T.?] Eldredge03470
