63[First draft of letter, in note-book][Hobert underwood Johnson]Martinez, Feb. 16, '05.Dear Mr. Johnson:The deadlock at Washington over the railroads through the Park is settled. Voting on the recession bill has been postponed almost from day to day the last two or three weeks. It is now set for next Tuesday, the 21st. As far as I know, the vote was the deadlock on account of bitter feeling and clash of influences on other bills. We are working hard and still hope to win through it all.I'll enquire about Owen's book when I go to the City.Faithfully yours,[John Muir]*Owen Johnson03098
