Martinez, California March 28/9My dear Mr Kip,How have you all got through this grim Grippy winter? What with sickness in the family & fighting for forest preservation Ive made scarce any headway with the new book I'm trying to write & which I hoped to get out next fall. Mrs Muir has been laid up with Grippe nearly three months but is now recovering slowly & I hope to get something done. The Osborns talk of the Yosemite trip for next May or June. Can't you come to Cal after a sojourn in Colorado? Ive always regretted not seeing you last summer & fall I hope to be free next time I'm on your side the Continent. I'd like ever so much to be at Berts wedding but I see no way in that direction just now. Anyhow our Alaska days were good & gloriously memorable. With best wishesEver Sincerely YoursJohn Muir
