[illegible] 66aMartinez, Jan. 23. 1899.My dear Johnson,I learned the other day from a reliable source that 200000 sheep were pastured in the Sierra Forest Reservation this last season. & that a company of sheep owners & speculators have sent a man to Washington to try to obtain a lease of the reservation for pasturage for next season. & that they claim to Sierra Club favors leasing the forest lands for this fine use.
